Parquet is the floor of the prewar New York apartment, and it is still the pattern that most clearly says a room was designed. Our parquet collection runs from prefinished Versailles panels to unfinished patterns cut to order.

This guide covers the parquet in our store by format, so you can decide between a classic Versailles, a traditional pattern finished on site, or a contemporary design.

Versailles Panels in Natural Grade

The Versailles panel is the most formal parquet there is, and it suits a classic six dining room or a Fifth Avenue gallery. Our Louis Versailles parquet is European oak, Quercus petraea, in a Natural grade for a clean and balanced appearance.

Louis is prefinished in UV Oil and supplied as engineered panels 3/4" thick and 31-1/2" by 31-1/2". Engineered construction allows installation over plywood or concrete subfloors, including floating installation over radiant heat, which matters in new-construction towers built on concrete slabs.

Wire-Brushed and Rustic Versailles

A Versailles floor does not have to read as palatial. In a West Village townhouse or a Westchester country house, a textured panel feels more relaxed and pairs well with linen, limewash and unlacquered brass.

Our Ana Versailles parquet keeps the Natural grade but adds a wire-brushed texture under its UV Oil finish. Catrina goes further, with a Rustic grade for a highly varied appearance and the same wire-brushed surface. Both are 3/4" engineered panels, 31-1/2" square, so they can be mixed with Louis from room to room.

European Oak Parquet Tiles

Not every room wants the full Versailles lattice. A simpler parquet tile gives a library or study a tailored floor without competing with paneling or bookshelves.

Our Theo parquet is a European oak engineered tile in Natural grade, prefinished in UV Oil, 3/4" thick and 31-1/2" by 31-1/2". It shares species, grade and finish with Louis, so the two can run in adjoining rooms. A Versailles dining room that opens to a Theo study keeps one tone and sheen throughout the apartment.

Classic Unfinished Parquet Patterns

Unfinished parquet is finished on site, so stain and sheen can be matched to existing floors, which is common when an apartment combination joins two units and the new rooms must meet older floors at the doorways. Our standard parquet, such as Royale, is supplied unfinished, square edged, straight cut with no tongue and groove, face-taped, plain sawn and in Select and Better grade.

Royale is offered in 2-1/4" or 3" sizes, and both Royale and Duchesse are available in American walnut, Brazilian cherry, red oak and white oak.

Marquis, Queen Anne and King Charles

Some patterns are best understood as a tile. Our Marquis parquet is 19" x 19" x 5/16", in white oak, American walnut, red oak or Brazilian cherry, and can be cut plainsawn or rift and quartered. Rift and quartered white oak gives the tiles a straighter, more linear grain.

Queen Anne and King Charles are built from solid wood for glue-down installation over wood or concrete subfloors. Our parquet range runs from simple 9x9 or 12x12 tiles to complex designs in exotic species, and custom patterns can be made.

Contemporary Parquet from Italy

For a new penthouse or a gallery-like loft, a modern geometry can be more fitting than a historical pattern. Our Lago parquet is crafted at our mill in Italy and offered through the Listone Esotico collection.

Lago is defined by a geometric layout with a rhythmic sense of movement. It is offered in Graphit, Biancospino, Montblanc, Noce Canaletto and Tortora, in balanced engineered or 2-layer birch construction, with custom installation and color options. The lighter tones suit white-walled lofts, while Noce Canaletto brings walnut warmth to a darker scheme.
