Houses in Weston, Wilton and Redding often sit on wooded lots, with big windows that change the light through the day. Our Tsiu River floors are prefinished white oak in a 7" width, with a UV-cured hard-wax oil finish that gives a soft, matte look.

Here is how to read the range by tone.

Coastal and Light: Sand Point and Glacier

Sand Point is described as bringing the colors of the coast to your home. Its UV-cured, hard-wax oil finish gives a creamy matte appearance, which suits a bright kitchen or a family room that opens onto a deck.

Glacier is described as a truly unique offering, with a UV-oiled hard-wax finish that brings out flowing grain and rich, elegant colors. Seen together, these two cover the lighter end of the range. Our light versus dark guide helps if you are torn.

Grey-Brown: Seward and Cordova

Seward combines flowing grey character lines with warm brown hues, for what its page calls a slightly rustic yet elegant appearance. It sits well in a house with stone walls and grey-green paint colors, and with natural linen and wool.

Cordova has grey-brown hues with dark grain lines characteristic of oak, and a hazy matte finish from the UV-cured finishing oil. Grey-brown floors are a good middle path in a wooded setting, since they echo bark and stone without reading as a fashionable grey.

Warm Browns: Kodiak and Cohoe

Kodiak shows rich, milk-chocolate hues with a slightly rustic look, and its page notes that the hard-wax oiled finish gives the floor visual depth while protecting it. It suits a living room with a large fireplace and warm upholstery.

Cohoe has a uniform matte brown finish in medium to dark colors, with a hard-wax oil, UV-cured finish that generates depth and tone. Its consistency suits a long run of open rooms, where a more varied floor could feel busy across the whole plan.

Dark: Sitka, Haines, Valdez and Baranof

Sitka is northern white oak with a dark matte finish, and its page says the hard wax-oiled, UV-cured boards are durable and resist staining. Haines has rich dark colors with a matte look from the same finish.

Valdez and Baranof are also dark white oak with attractive grain, described as super low maintenance. A dark floor suits a library, a dining room or a primary suite, where it gives a sense of quiet. Pair it with lighter walls and good lamps so the room does not feel heavy.

The 7" Format, Solid or Engineered

Every Tsiu River floor is 7" wide, in random lengths from 1-1/2' to 8'. Each is offered as 3/4" solid, or as 5/8" or 3/4" engineered with a 4mm wear layer, so the same tone can run over a wood subfloor upstairs and a slab in a lower level. Our wide plank guide covers width choices.

A 7" board is wide enough to feel generous in large rooms but still suits bedrooms and halls. We confirm subfloor and heating details with your builder before ordering. A virtual consultation with photos of each room helps narrow the ten tones to two or three samples.
