A loft in Tribeca or SoHo has the floor area and ceiling height to carry a truly large board. Lørent Douglas is made for that scale, and it is one of the most distinctive pre-finished wood floors we offer.
Here is how the Douglas range is laid out, from classic wide plank to mixed widths and mosaic.
Why Douglas Suits a Loft
Lørent describes Douglas plank floors as creating a highly elegant and harmonious expression due to their extraordinary dimensions, with clear references to the majestic Douglas tree. In a loft with columns and long window walls, a board of that size reads as calm rather than busy.
The Douglas Natural Wide Plank is offered in widths of 7.9", 9.8", 11.8", 13.8" and wider. Fewer seams across a large room is the main reason owners choose a board this wide, and our wide plank guide covers the tradeoffs.
Mixed Widths for a Natural Rhythm
Douglas Mixed Width combines wider and narrower solid planks in one floor. Lørent says the boards come into their own and engage in a natural, almost musical interplay, which is a fair description of how the floor looks in person.
Width ranges include 5.9"-11.8", 7.9"-11.8" and 11.8"-17.7", with thickness options of 1.1" or 1.4" and lengths from 3'3" up to 16'5". In a cast-iron loft with original columns, mixed widths can echo the irregular character of the building without needing reclaimed wood.
Classic Douglas and the Color Range
Douglas Classic Wide Plank comes in eleven colors: Sand, Light Grey, Ash, Umbra, Clay, Graphit, White, Invisible, Light, Lye and White, and Natural. That range covers a pale Scandinavian look through to a deep charcoal.
For a loft with white walls and black steel windows, Invisible or White keeps the wood present but quiet. Umbra and Graphit suit a darker, gallery-like interior. Because every floor is pre-finished, color is set at the factory and consistent from board to board, and you can review tone choices before ordering samples.

Douglas Mosaic for Kitchens and Entries
Douglas Natural Mosaic uses the same wood and color range in a patterned layout, with widths from 7.9" to 13.8". It gives a kitchen or entry a defined area within an open floor plan without changing species.
That matters in a loft where there are few walls to separate zones. A mosaic field under a dining table or at the elevator landing marks the space, then the floor returns to long plank. If you want more classic patterns, our parquet collection is worth a look.
Ordering and Planning Douglas
Boards of this size need careful planning. We confirm room dimensions, plank widths and lengths so the layout uses full boards where they matter most. A virtual consultation with your architect usually settles the plan in one meeting.
Because Lørent Douglas is supplied pre-finished, installation is cleaner in an occupied building, which can help with loft board rules, neighbors and tight elevator schedules. If you are considering oak instead, Lørent also offers Heart Oak wide plank in widths up to 19.7".
