Montclair and Upper Montclair have a deep stock of Victorian, Tudor and Arts and Crafts houses, and many owners want floors with the same sense of age. Our reclaimed collection includes several less common species that suit those houses well.
Here is what each one offers and where it tends to work best.
Wormy Chestnut
Reclaimed Wormy Chestnut is described on its page as a rare American heritage look, with a smooth texture and occasional saw marks. It comes in solid and engineered 3/4" platforms, in 3"-6" and 4"-8" random widths.
It is pre-finished in UV Natural Oil or UV Matte Oil, with custom finishing on request. Chestnut suits a study, library or dining room in an Arts and Crafts house, where its character sits well beside built-in cabinetry and quarter sawn furniture. Our green benefits post covers why reclaimed wood appeals to many owners.
White Pine and Tobacco Pine
Reclaimed White Pine offers a historic American look with a smooth texture and occasional saw marks, in 3"-6", 4"-8" and 6"-10" random widths, solid or engineered 3/4". It is also offered in 3" or 4" herringbone.
White pine is softer and lighter than heart pine, so it suits bedrooms, a third-floor suite or a relaxed family room more than a busy kitchen. For a warmer pine, Tobacco Pine uses American pines with a smooth face and authentic saw marks, in the same constructions and finish options.
Reclaimed Hickory and Beech Maple
Reclaimed Hickory has a smooth texture in solid or engineered 3/4", with 3"-6" and 4"-8" random widths and lengths from 2'. Engineered planks include a 4mm nominal wear layer.
Reclaimed Beech Maple blends maple and beech with a smooth texture and occasional saw marks, also with a 4mm nominal wear layer on engineered planks. Both suit a kitchen or mudroom where you want reclaimed character on a durable hardwood, rather than a softer pine. They also pair well with painted cabinetry and simple tile.

Douglas Fir and Historic Plank
Reclaimed Douglas Fir has a smooth texture in solid or engineered 3/4", in 3"-6" and 4"-8" random widths, pre-finished in UV Natural Oil or UV Matte Oil. It suits a sunroom or a converted carriage house with a lighter, cleaner feel.
Historic Plank mixes American hardwoods with a smooth texture and authentic saw marks, in random widths from 3" to 12" and lengths up to 12'. It is the choice for a great room that needs the widest reclaimed boards we offer.
Trophy Room: Walnut, Chestnut and Cherry
Trophy Room blends reclaimed walnut, chestnut and cherry in one floor. It is offered in solid and engineered 3/4", in 3"-8" random widths and lengths from 2' up to 12', pre-finished in UV Natural Oil or UV Matte Oil.
A mixed species floor gives a library, bar or game room a collected, layered look that a single species cannot. It works best with warm lighting and darker walls. To compare it with a single-species option, see our American walnut post before ordering samples.
