Stone and shingle houses in Princeton, Rumson and Far Hills often call for a floor that looks as if it has always been there. Our antique reclaimed oak comes in several surfaces, from heavy saw marks to smooth and refined.

Here is how each option differs and where it works best.

Antique Reclaimed Oak Wide Plank

Antique Reclaimed Oak Wide Plank uses American white and red oak sourced from historic barns, granaries and industrial structures. The product page lists natural patina, original saw marks, nail holes, checking, sound cracks and weathered texture.

It is pre-finished in UV Natural Oil or UV Matte Oil, with a smooth texture and occasional saw marks. For a great room with exposed beams or a stone fireplace, this is the floor that ties everything together. Our wide plank guide covers plank width choices.

Original Face: The Most Texture

Reclaimed Oak Original Face keeps heavy saw marks and a deep natural patina. It is pre-finished in UV Natural Oil and offered in solid and engineered 3/4" platforms, with random widths up to 8"-12".

The page also lists bespoke options such as wire brushing. Original face works best in rooms where texture is welcome, such as a family room, a mudroom or a converted barn. In a formal room, a smoother grade is usually the better choice, which brings us to resawn oak.

Resawn Oak: Old Wood, Smooth Face

Resawn Oak Wide Plank reveals a fresh, smooth face cut from reclaimed stock. It comes in solid and engineered 3/4", with random widths from 3" to 10", in UV Natural Oil or UV Matte Oil, and custom finishing is available on request.

Resawn Appearance Grade White Oak takes that a step further, with random widths from 3" to 10" and lengths up to 12'. It suits a formal living or dining room where you want the depth of old oak without heavy surface texture.

European Resawn Oak From Old Beams

Reclaimed European Antique Resawn Oak is crafted from reclaimed European oak beams. The resawn process reveals the inner layers of the wood, showing natural grain variation, rich tones and aged texture in every plank.

It is offered in UV Cured Natural Oil or Matte, with custom finishes available, in random widths from 3"-6" up to 8"-12". For a house with European antiques or limestone, it can feel more at home than American stock. Our European oak overview covers the species.

Hit-Skip and Custom Color

Cobblestone Reclaimed Oak is a hit-skip grade with a smooth texture, occasional saw marks and a custom color matte finish. Plank widths range from 3" to 12" random, in solid or engineered 3/4".

Hit-skip planing leaves traces of the old surface between smooth areas, which gives a floor movement without heavy texture. In a kitchen or family room that opens to the garden, it balances refinement with ease. Reclaimed oak also has a clear environmental story, covered in our post on green benefits of wood.
