Riverdale and Fieldston mix Tudor and colonial revival houses on winding streets with large co-op buildings near the river. This range of character grade European oak suits both, in a 7-1/2" width with a Matte UV Urethane Aluminum Oxide finish and engineered construction.
Here is how the floors differ and where each fits.
Lirano and Gavello: Wire-Brushed Character
Lirano is an ABCD character grade with a natural and varied appearance and a wire-brushed texture. It is 5/8" thick and 7-1/2" wide, in random lengths up to 73" with most pieces at 73", and has a 2mm wear layer.
Gavello shares the same grade, brushing, finish and 2mm wear layer. Character grade includes knots and natural variation, which hides everyday wear well in a busy family house with children and pets. Our light versus dark guide helps with tone.
Florano and Grazari
Florano is also ABCD character grade with a wire-brushed texture and a Matte UV Urethane Aluminum Oxide finish, in random lengths that its page describes as creating a wide and natural layout.
Grazari is character grade in the same 5/8" by 7-1/2" format, with lengths up to 73". Its page notes that custom milling such as herringbone and chevron cuts is available, so a foyer or dining room can carry a pattern in the same oak as the rest of the house. See our herringbone collection for layouts.
Trivara and Auronzo: Flexible Installation
Trivara is character grade with the same matte finish, and its page notes that the engineered construction allows installation over plywood or concrete subfloors and supports floating installation. That flexibility matters in a co-op, where the subfloor may be concrete and floor height is limited.
Auronzo shares the character grade, finish and installation notes, in random lengths up to 6'. Building rules on underlayment and sound control still apply, so we review them with your contractor and managing agent before ordering.

Helvera and Bellara: Six-Foot Lengths
Helvera comes in random lengths up to 6', with a Matte UV Urethane Aluminum Oxide finish. Its page notes it can be installed over plywood or concrete, and is compatible with floating installation methods, including over radiant heat systems.
Bellara is ABCD character grade in the same 7-1/2" width and 6' lengths. Shorter boards suit a smaller apartment or a house with many doorways, where very long boards would be cut down anyway. Our questions before installing post is a useful checklist.
Planning a Riverdale House or Co-op
In a Tudor or colonial revival house, a 7-1/2" character oak can run through the main rooms while a patterned floor marks the entry. Using the same oak for both keeps color and finish consistent across thresholds.
In a co-op, the matte finish helps hide the scuffs that come with elevators, strollers and deliveries, and the engineered build is suited to concrete. A virtual consultation with your floor plan and building's alteration rules is usually enough for us to recommend two or three samples to compare.
